A faith willing
to ask questions.
Who was Jesus, and what did he really teach? Near the Fire explores the historical Jesus, the scriptures, and the search for spiritual truth.
Here, we question inherited assumptions and look beyond tradition. Through history, evidence, and honest conversation, we seek a deeper understanding of Jesus and a faith that can grow through difficult questions.
Build on truth.
Let evidence inform belief. Make room to rethink familiar interpretations and deepen faith through honest discovery.
Face the heat.
Have the courage to examine uncomfortable ideas, challenge misleading teachings, and follow truth wherever it leads.
Why “Near the Fire”?
“If you are near me,
Gospel of Thomas, Saying 82
you are near the fire.”
The name reflects a willingness to let the search for truth challenge and refine our faith. To draw closer is to ask honestly, examine what we believe, and be open to change.
